A Culinary Journey from the Streets to the Stars
Chef Ameer’s culinary story began long before the accolades. Raised in a culturally diverse household, he was immersed in food from a young age—watching his mother prepare international dinners while learning business hustle from his father’s halal hot dog cart. By the age of 11, Ameer was working in kitchens and dreaming of a future far beyond the familiar streets of Newark.
After navigating the challenges of growing up in urban America, he set his sights on culinary excellence. He graduated at the top of his class from the prestigious French Culinary Institute and went on to master Southern and Lowcountry cooking, as well as African and Caribbean cuisine. A James Beard nominee and lifelong learner, he also studied under Michelin-starred humanitarian Chef José Andrés, deepening his skills and social impact perspective.
His talent and tenacity soon took him to some of the world’s most exclusive tables—cooking for Beyoncé, Oprah, LeBron James, Queen Latifah, Floyd Mayweather, and more.

With his passion sharpened and palate refined, Chef Ameer founded Fresh Chef Food Works in 2006—an innovative catering company grounded in global flavor and local connection. Today, Fresh Chef Catering + Events has evolved into a trusted brand for curated culinary experiences, beloved by corporate clients, wedding planners, and foodies alike.
